#11 North Canol Road

This road leads up to Ross River, and on to MacMillan Pass and the Northwest Territories. You cross the Ross River at a Car Ferry in the town site. The Ferry is manned 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, seven days a week and runs from May to October, however taking this route you will most likely have to travel back the next day. If you do get stuck on the wrong side of the river after hours there is a footbridge to offer access back to Ross River and you can retrieve your vehicle the next day. You should have a four-wheel drive vehicle to travel this road. This road is only safe to travel up to the Northwest Territory border, but not past there as many bridges are missing. This is a very isolated area, but is very scenic, especially up around the Hess mountain.
